Why Andy on Immigration (AoI) Exists
Immigration law has always been complex—but today it’s more volatile, fragmented, and exhausting than ever.
Law firms are overwhelmed. Businesses struggle to plan for the future. The system feels random, and everyone’s bandwidth is under pressure.
AoI was built for this moment
We’re building a trusted platform for immigration insights, and an ecosystem of services that help firms, professionals, and individuals navigate immigration challenges with calm confidence.
We deliver clarity. We create capacity. We help you move forward.
Founded by Andy—a former immigration attorney, consultant, and project leader—AoI combines deep industry knowledge with practical business insight. We’re not detached observers—we’re involved, informed, and focused on helping professionals see their challenges more clearly.
About the Founder
Hi, I’m Andy—Founder of Andy on Immigration, and your Chief Relief Officer. You can recognize me amongst immigration professionals because I’m the one without my hair on fire (though it is thinner and grayer than in the picture) – that’s because I left immigration behind a few years back.
I spent about two decades immersed in immigration—as an attorney, practice leader, client services/knowledge management advisor and strategist. I started practicing business immigration law in the 1990s, ultimately becoming a partner at a national AmLaw 100 firm, where I led managed global accounts, helped develop legal and business strategies for employers of all sizes, and later led client services functions.
From there, I moved into consulting and operations, managing a small consulting business that provided, sales/distribution, human resources, and revenue management services in the hospitality industry. I’ve run immigration teams, advised law firms and corporations, managed large-scale programs, and written extensively on immigration law, compliance, and business practices.
But what brings me to this work now isn’t just experience—it’s conviction.
I left the direct practice of law not because I burned out, but because I saw no vision for relief. The immigration system was chaotic and often nonsensical. The practice environment was unrelenting. Client needs were urgent and constant—and the stakes were often significant on both businesses and individuals.
When I learned that an immigration professional I respected had taken their own life, it crystalized what I had already felt: we need a different way to work in this space. We need more clarity, more support, and more room to breathe.
Initially, those were the reasons why I left the practice. Now, they’re the reasons I am creating Andy on Immigration.
I call myself the Chief Relief Officer because relief is what we all need—especially if you are an immigration professional. And building the space for that is now my full-time mission. Please “Like”, “Follow”, read, listen, and comment – tell me what you like and don’t like about AoI, but most of all what you need to improve your relationship with immigration. I’m not just here to talk—I’m here to listen.
